From the Valley to the coast, a useful charging plan starts with your parking space, your electric utility and the office that handles permits for your property.

One county, different utilities and permit offices.
The City of Los Angeles is one part of Los Angeles County. Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena have their own municipal utilities. Other county homes may have Southern California Edison service. Check the provider on your electric bill before choosing equipment around a rebate.
A mailing address or ZIP does not settle every boundary. Unincorporated communities can use a nearby city name in their address. Use the County’s jurisdiction lookup guidance to identify the jurisdiction, and SCE’s address check when Edison service needs confirmation.
If your electricity comes from LADWP.
LADWP advertises up to $1,000 for a qualifying charger and installation, with another $500 for eligible EZ-SAVE or Lifeline participants. Arrange the recommended service assessment before installation. Check LADWP’s current program.
Apply after installation and within 12 months of charger purchase. Installation-only and dedicated-meter-only applications use a six-month installation deadline. Keep paid itemized invoices, required final permit evidence and equipment photos. Read the application FAQ.
Eligible EV-related panel expenses can fall within installation costs; that is not a separate additional panel rebate. The optional dedicated-meter incentive and EV rate have their own conditions. Compare the entire project and ongoing bill before choosing a meter change. Review the governing terms (PDF).
If your electricity comes from SCE.
Charge Ready Home offers eligible single-family households up to $4,200 through its income-qualified pathway or up to $2,100 through its disadvantaged-community pathway. These are alternatives, with payment limited by qualifying project costs.
The program requires a qualifying panel upgrade and charging provision. The home needs its own panel and an unshared meter; a renter needs owner permission. A 200A panel is a program requirement, not proof that every EV project needs one. Check property eligibility and the current application process before committing to work.
For other utilities, start with our regional rebate comparison and the guides for Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena. Utility approval, eligible expenses and available funding determine the payment. Do not combine incentives from different electric providers.
Confirm the permit route before installation.
Inside the City of Los Angeles: begin with LADBS’s EV permitting resources. Its current EV checklist (PDF) describes an express electrical permit route for qualifying work. Apartment and commercial projects may need separate building review for accessibility. Your contractor should confirm the route for your scope.
Elsewhere in the county: use the County EV permit guide and address-based service locator. County-handled projects use EPIC-LA; another city may handle yours. Ask who obtains permits, coordinates utility work and schedules final inspection. An express permit does not guarantee an installation date.
Parking and use: where the car sits, charging-port position, daily driving and usual time at home.
Equipment: proposed charger, who buys it, and any network subscription or utility equipment requirement.
Installation route: approximate distance, shared areas, trenching and surface repairs to include.
Electrical assessment: existing capacity, future appliances and the reason for any proposed panel or service change.
Responsibilities: property permissions, permits, inspections, utility coordination, exclusions and warranty.
Price: an itemized total before incentives, with any assumed rebate listed separately.
A photo of the panel exterior can help an electrician prepare; do not remove covers. Keep utility account numbers and tax documents for the organizations that actually require them. Our initial form does not need them.
Before you send a request.
Does the planner tell me whether I need a new panel?
No. That takes a professional assessment of the home and proposed equipment. A panel label alone cannot answer it. Use our panel planning guide to prepare questions.
Will you send my details to an installer today?
No. Matching is not available yet. An optional request stays with the All In One Handy owner. We will ask before sharing it with a contractor when that service becomes available.
